eye jailed eye 2019
Solo exhibition
Independent project presentation curated by Gavin Runzel
Venue: Vacation, New York
May 31–June 30, 2019
eye jailed eye is an audio-visual installation occupying two floors of Vacation in Chinatown, NYC. A sculptural rose-pen-nib microphone was live, capturing feedback from the space, which was mixed and amplified with the audio piece intermittent: speaking in tongue (4:09), playing on this page. The installation also served as a site for editing the artist’s book of the same title, eye jailed eye, which was bound into a book in conjunction with the closing of the exhibition.
Forty-two new mineral pigment paintings on silk were made and debuted in this exhibition.
